Whats the difference in symptoms between stomach flu and something worse like hepatitis? |
i got stomach flu like symptoms about a year ago... but im still passing it on and its pretty embarrasing... so could it be that? also some people who i know are vaccinated from hep. have gotten it... but could they still show symptoms? ive been thinking its stomach flu but its just been going on for a while i dont know Well, there's no such thing as a "stomach flu" even though it's a common term. Either there's a bacterial infection, or a viral infection that gives you stomach issues. A viral infection typically is "self-limiting" meaning you're sick for 7-10 days, and then it's gone. A bacterial infection doesn't have a life cycle, so it can go on longer until your immune system can fight it off, or until you take antibiotics to kill the bacteria. What you are describing sounds very much like a parasitic problem. It's been with you for a year! That's not bacterial, or viral, or a "flu" of any kind! You'll need oral medication to kill the parasites, and anyone who you have shared them with should be notified so they can do the same. Transmission can be controlled by making certain that you wast your hands THOROUGHLY after using the toillet. If people you know gets infected from your stomach problems and they have been fully vaccinated against hepatitis then it's probably not hepatitis. Try having stool examination to see what organism is causing your problem. After this, your doctor might recommend treatment based on the findings. Stomach flu and hepatitis both causes pain, diarrhea, +/- fever. Hepatitis however affects the liver (hepa= means liver) and can cause jaundice (yellowing of skin and eyes). You could have something other than stomach flu, go to your gp and he will probably ask for a stool sample. When the results from the sample come back he/she will decide what to do next. Hepatitis, what sort of hepatitis exactly? Hep B? If you had hepatitis, you may be jaundiced (yellowing of skin and eyes), your stools would be pale and your urine would be dark. You may feel lethargic, bruise easily. Diahorrea is a symptom of hepatitis, but it is a symptom of many other things too. there both real bad and the symptom be the same and range that why its real impormtant to see doctor and the are test that can tell if you got hepatitis the good new it it all treat able and live a ble I know I ve had the flu and I ve been living with hep for 17 year so go to the doctor go get a check up |
