I am going to join the Air Force, but I am a Hepatitis B virus carrier. Is that ok? First of all, this isn't about you...it's about other soldiers who might need good blood. You are disqualified from enlistment. Certain diseases disqualify intital enlistment, but would not disqualify one from continuing if infected while on duty. Theoretically, every soldier (yes, you would be one) is expected to be able to give blood on the battlefield or to be mustered to give blood. The services must reduce the risks on the front end by eliminating from enlistment those that cannot give blood safely. Source(s): Retired Air Force recruiter. it is but the training i have been there No diseases are never ok O.K. for u .But u r a carrier. Review the standards by the FAA, and add more so to it for the Airforce. I'm going to assume not, although I'd say you should look into it. According to the AFI (Air Force Instruction) you can enlist in the Air Force as a carrier so long as you hhave had a work-up that proves that you have no "objective evidence of imparement to liver function. |
