When you're blood pressure gets high and you get a headache, what is the best way to get rid of it?

I've had one for about two days and I can't shake it.

Eat foods high in potassium.

Stay away from caffeine

I hear drinking Gatorade helps.

relax rest take what a doctor prescribes for your condition

meditation is best and breathing tecs. this will slow your heart rate and lower your blood pres. and calm down.eat something and relax

2 words: Fat doobie

simmer down now, simmer down

You may want to see your doctor about this because of your high blood pressure. When you have a constant headache and your BP is high your BP problem may be getting worse. I would talk to your Doctor right away, this can be very dangerous for your health.

Ibuprofen.

go c ur doctor and they will give u pills to help it.

Aspirin thins the blood, and would be the best pain reliever (OTC) in this situation. Talk to your doctor about your high blood pressure, and he could prescribe you nitrates or other blood pressure reducing medication

you can ice your head. that'll relieve some pain. and drink alot of water. water relieves blood pressure.

and do you have a dog? its a scientific fact that when a dog enters a room, all of the humans inside the room have decreased blood pressure. nobody knows why though lol

Low doses of Ibuprofen work very well. It may lower blood pressure.

GARLIC

lowers blood pressure for instant relief! go eat some bread now! reduce salt or smoking

Rest and try to relax, sit in a warm bath, listen to calming music, or get a pet and tend to it. Take some asprin and try to avoid staring at any bright lights, tv or comp screens or anything that would anger you. Hope you get better.

For me I get some water and lie down then wait until you feel strong enough to get up and walk around.

go to the doc

or

lay down in the dark and relax.. stress can cause a lot of problems

best bet, see a doc

Try meditation or if you don't know how, try some slow deep breathing exercises for a few minutes. Stop for a few minutes and repeat until you feel better. I guess you are taking your BP with a home kit, so monitor it after a few tries and see if it works. Of course you should avoid salty foods and drinks. NO corned beef, salty soups etc.
If your BP is dangerously high you should see a DR. and maybe get on some HBP meds.

drink water

the first thing you should do is stop doing whatever you do that raises your blood pressure and take your blood pressure medicine. and if aspirin won't handle your headache, see a doctor. my husband has problems similar to yours - he gets headaches often but mostly not because of his high blood pressure. he has sinus problems - has had them all his life - he gets his headaches whenever the barometer changes - up or down, it doesn't seem to matter - aspirins only upset his stomach so mostly he just weathers them. his headaches never last for days though - not unless the weather is being particularly evil.

You are not going to rid of the headache until you get rid of the cause. High blood pressure is nothing to fool around with. It can cause strokes and numerous other things. If you already take medication, your dosage needs to be adjusted by you doctor. If you don't take medication, GET to the doctor. Until then, avoid any physical activities. It gets the blood pumping harder and raises my numbers fast (and to very dangerous levels) if I have not taken my meds that day. I can't continue mowing the yard or whatever until I get in there and take it and let it kick in. Before I started mowing or whatever, it may have been only slightly elevated, not enough for me to notice.

I have trouble teaching this one even to doctors: it's very, very rare for high blood pressure to cause a headache. It's much, much more common for someone's blood pressure to elevate in response to a headache, or some other pain.
The trick is in knowing when your headache isn't just a headache. If it's the normal type for you, a simple analgesic and a little R&R are all that are usually required. Others demand prompt medical attention. Despite the fact that this isn't the best time to ask yourself for patience and rational thinking, only you can answer, really, which category yours falls into.
