High blood pressure in late pregnancy? (only 1 day to go)? |
my wife went to the midwife today and said that she had high blood pressure go outside for 20 min think good thing and we check again.she went back in and she said you still have high blood pressure.so take it easy and rest. a few people have said that she should go to hospital why has she not been sent ,you should take her there.the midwife is a stand in. she also had slight swelling She is fine. She should rest definitely and on her left side as much as she can. That helps kidney function. It is actually normal for blood pressure to rise as the pregnancy nears the end. As long as she isn't near a stroke level - 200/150 or so - a one time high blood pressure isn't going to cause her or the baby harm. Higher than usual blood pressure is normalespecially this clsoe to delivery. If it was too high, the midwife would most likely have referred her to a regular OB for insurance purposes. There is high blood pressure and then there is blood pressure that needs closer monitoring. If she notices sudden swelling anywhere, begins to have vision changes, or feels just generally unwell either go back or go to the hospital. IT may have not been high enough thqat the midwife was overly concerned. At this point in your wifes pregnany she is probably going in twice a week anyhow. I bet you they just double, even triple check her blood pressure next she goe sin. She may have not been spilling any protiens either, which is another HUGE indicator of PE. Do you also have a doctor? Maybe you should call the hospital and tell them what her blood pressure is and get a second opinion. My friend also had high pressure. They sent her home and told her to relax. She was then induced two days later. just get a second opinion to ease your mind. Good luck! The midwife obviously isn't concerned enough to send her to hospital, I'm 5 days over-due and I've had high bloody pressure a few times. did they also test her urine?ifthe urine shows signs of protein and she has high bp, then she mustgo to hospital as this is a sign of pre-eclampsia, but just high bp is not unusual late on. they will probably check her daily, but if she startsto getdizzy or see flashing lights ,has abdominal pain or vomits then you must get her right to the hospital...good luck! im 39 weeks pregnant and have what is called 'white coat syndrome' or reactive blood pressure. In other words if I sit and think about it it goes up. Im sure that when walking around outside between bp checks your wife was getting anxious therefore the second reading was bound to be higher. |
