High Blood Pressure: what are the dangers? and can you really get it from other people aggravating you? |
What if you are basically healthy in all other respects--don't smoke, don't drink (much), healthy weight, moderate exercise, good cholesterol, no diabetes, etc.? You might be on meds to control temporal lobe seizures which are completely effective and have been working well for over a decade. The HBP just started a month ago. Oh, you are also on the sunny side of 55, and female. This is all very interesting. One parent had low, really low BP and the other had HBP. Figures, doesn't it? A trip to the neurologist seems in order, for sure. ......dangers?.....kidney damage..hardening of arteries worse, (higher pressure makes cholesterol stick to side of vessels and arteries worse)....eye problems from damaged little vessels.....stroke ...heart attack.....these are long term symptoms.....short term blood pressure rise from outside stimuli.......how many readings?....suggest good monitor...(wrist) $50.........keep eye on...don't freak out yet......maybe it's like when it rains on the other side of the street but not on your side.....it has to start somewhere....HBP is very easy to control with meds(sounds like your friend does everything else right).....beta blocker and diuretic....$8.00 a month at Walmart......certain ones have been around for decades if you are like me and suspicious of medication side effects.....hope this helps.....low 50s?......age is a factor from normal vein and artery build up...... resting pulse rate is something to be attentive to also...... Elevated blood pressure will effect the heart as it puts increase strain on the heart which leads to heart disease. The changes in blood flow could also lead to strokes and heart failure. High blood pressure can cause stroke and major damage to your heart. The harder the heart pumps the more stress there is on it. You can't get HBP from other people aggravating you..it doesn't work that way. But, it can be cause by heredity. Diet is a big factor too. I diet in high sodium can increase the fluid being held in the tissues. Your friend really needs to get seen by a doctor and get it under control. Yes ppl getting on your nerves can cause your BP to rise...but typically that is a short term effect. People with chronic high blood pressure often have other conditions that |
