See a GP first, it may be the case that you need medication for it.
Lose weight if you are overweight, regular physical activity, and have a low salt intake.
The amount of salt that we eat can have an effect on our blood pressure. Government guidelines recommend that we should have no more than 5-6 grams of salt per day. (Most people currently have more than this.) Tips on how to reduce salt include:

-Use herbs and spices to flavour food rather than salt.
-Limit the amount of salt used in cooking, and do not add salt to food at the table.
-Choose foods labelled 'no added salt', and avoid processed foods as much as possible.
-Eat a healthy diet
-Briefley, this means:

-AT LEAST five portions, and ideally 7-9 portions, of a variety of fruit and vegetables per day.
-THE BULK OF MOST MEALS should be starch-based foods (such as cereals, wholegrain bread, potatoes, rice, pasta), plus fruit and vegetables.
-NOT MUCH fatty food such as fatty meats, cheeses, full-cream milk, fried food, butter, etc. Use low fat, mono-, or poly-unsaturated spreads.
-INCLUDE 2-3 portions of fish per week. At least one of which should be 'oily' such as herring, mackerel, sardines, kippers, pilchards, salmon, or fresh (not tinned) tuna.
If you eat meat it is best to eat lean meat, or poultry such as chicken.
If you do fry, choose a vegetable oil such as sunflower, rapeseed or olive oil.
-Low in salt.

A healthy diet provides health benefits in different ways. For example, it can lower cholesterol, help control your weight, and has plenty of vitamins, fibre, and other nutrients which help to prevent certain diseases. Some aspects of a healthy diet also directly affect blood pressure. For example, if you have a poor diet and change to a diet which is low-fat, low-salt, and high in fruit and vegetables, it can lower systolic blood pressure by up to 11 mmHg.

hiya ,well this is quite high for a man of your age.
was this done at the doctors,or did you do the reading yourself?
there can be many factors in this reading, such as weight, are you over weight,do you eat fatty foods,is your job a stressful one.it can be resoved simply by changing your life style.and you need to find out if high bp,ot heart conditions run in your family.please dont worry get to your gp,and medication will sort it out as well as a differant life style like i said.also cut down on the intake of salt in your diet,if you have salt added.

good luck

you should go to your GP first and foremost

Hypertension is sustained elevation of resting systolic BP (鈮?140 mm Hg), diastolic BP (鈮?90 mm Hg), or both. Hypertension with no known cause (primary; formerly, essential hypertension) is most common. Hypertension with an identified cause (secondary hypertension) is usually due to a renal disorder. Usually, no symptoms develop unless hypertension is severe or long-standing. Diagnosis is by sphygmomanometry. Tests may be done to determine cause, assess damage, and identify other cardiovascular risk factors. Treatment involves lifestyle changes and drugs, including diuretics, 尾 - blockers, ACE inhibitors, angiotensin II receptor blockers, and Ca channel blockers.
Lifestyle changes can help you control and prevent high blood pressure 鈥?even if you're taking blood pressure medication. Here's what you can do:
* Eat healthy foods. Try the Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension (DASH) diet, which emphasizes fruits, vegetables, whole grains and low-fat dairy foods. Get plenty of potassium, which can help prevent and control high blood pressure. Eat less saturated fat and total fat. Limit the amount of sodium in your diet. Although 2,400 milligrams (mg) of sodium a day is the current limit for otherwise healthy adults, limiting sodium intake to 1,500 mg a day will have a more dramatic effect on your blood pressure.
* Maintain a healthy weight. If you're overweight, losing even 5 pounds can lower your blood pressure.
* Increase physical activity. Regular physical activity can help lower your blood pressure and keep your weight under control. Strive for at least 30 minutes of physical activity a day.
* Limit alcohol. Even if you're healthy, alcohol can raise your blood pressure. If you choose to drink alcohol, do so in moderation 鈥?up to one drink a day for women, two drinks a day for men.
* Don't smoke. Tobacco injures blood vessel walls and speeds up the process of hardening of the arteries. If you smoke, ask your doctor to help you quit.
* Manage stress. Reduce stress as much as possible. Practice healthy coping techniques, such as muscle relaxation and deep breathing. Getting plenty of sleep can help, too.
* Practice slow, deep breathing. Do it on your own or try device-guided paced breathing. In various clinical trials, regular use of Resperate 鈥?an over-the-counter device approved by the Food and Drug Administration to analyze breathing patterns and help guide inhalation and exhalation 鈥?significantly lowered blood pressure.
Please take care of your kidneys. Consult the doctor.

You need to go back to your doctor who can control it with tablets, if you have headaches go back.im on tablets for the rest of my life.
Lose weight if you are over weight dont eat to much red meat

Watch your sodium intake. Check the food labels. Most prepared food items have a horrendous amount of salt in them, which aids in high blood pressure.

Also consider switching to sea salt instead of regular salt.

Avoid caffeine and super hot weather.

First thing go to docs and sort out medication. Then diet, you may be eating to much salty food so you will need to cut tr his out. Dont eat processed foods they are full of salt. If you drink Alcohol do it in moderation and if you do then red wine the best. Exercise lowers blood pressure so if you can workout at least three times a week for 30 mins or every day.

Don't drink alcohol. Drink enough water. Cut the amount of salt in your diet to about half. If it is very high, you should probably go to a doctor or emergency room.

Regular exercise
Aspirin (to thin your blood)
Take fish oil capsules

i think I'd go and seek some help with that one

go straight to your doctor..
these things don't just disappear

You've probably already been told to watch your salt levels and when you start looking on the labels of everything you eat you will realise that you shouldn't eat any of it.Its really tough. My husband has it and he's 32 but he's overweight and as he loses the weight his bp comes down.On the positive side though, my grandad has been on medication for high bp for forty years and he eats what he wants,he's 89!

I am 47 and found out I had high blood pressure when I was 17. I've been on medication for it since then. You need to see a doctor and see if medication is needed. You need to eat a LOW SALT diet and get plenty of fluids. Eat lots of veggies and fruits, stop eating red meat, and stop eating high fat foods. You also need to exercise-just start out walking if you haven't been active in the past. Just walking every day will make a big difference over time. If you are having headaches, you really, REALLY need to get to the doctor and get some help! High blood pressure will kill your organs-heart, kidney, brain etc. If your organs die, then you die. Don't put this off-take care of yourself!
