Does high blood pressure mean bed rest for me? |
I am currently 27 weeks pregnant with my first child. At my last doctors appointment my bp was a little high so I had to take a 24 hour urine test to test the levels of protien in my urine. This test came back normal and showed no signs of preeclampsia. I am still worried though because at the age of 50 my mother died of a stroke due to high blood pressure. Am I worrying for no reason? well no but the test came back ok, the doctor is just being careful. Read up on pre-eclampsia and follow the dietary recommendations, and go easy on salt and caffeine. It is not abnormal for your pressure to be a little high. Stay away from all salt, fried foods, fast foods, white foods, as in pasta, potato's, breads, eat lots of fruit and veggies and get out everyday and walk at least 20 minutes a day! No sweets...eat right and walk! You will be fine |
