I have High Blood Pressure, .it was 143 over 85?

Can you Please give ideas on how to bring it down faster, I am having surgery after May 1, 2008. Can it get normal by two weeks..? I just went to the Dr. today..I haven't began my Medicine yet, waiting for approval..by insurance..

It's really not particularly high, certainly doesnt seem high enough to begin medication for it.
If anything it is the high side of normal.
Healthy diet, exercise and plenty of rest should help bring it down a bit.
Good luck with your surgery. x

Just remember, everyones "norm" IS indeed different. Your diastolic is fine in my eyes, and your systolic is a bit high, but like I said, everyones norm is different. There is absolutely no reason for you to start medication for the blood pressure.

If anything, relax when testing it, and long-term, try to relieve some stress... as well as eat healthier, if you aren't already. But by all means, do not ironically give yourself anxiety and bring it up to a hypertension state.

Although that is not the best BP, it could be worse. The pills will bring it down. Why not ask the doctor for some samples to get you through until insurance kicks in? BP also fluctuates, reduce salt to the best that you can in your diet (none at all if you can do it, a good product is called No Salt by Morton. Tastes ok but terrible on spaghetti and salad! Relaxation tapes help as well. Good Luck and God Bless, Momma Kat

That's not a particularly high blood pressure. Make sure that you're not overweight, don't smoke and don't drink to excess. Try to keep to a low fat diet - avoid salt whenever possible.

Weight loss (if you're overweight) and exercise are the two most important factors in bringing your BP down.

Hawthorn supplements and Garlic supplements are supposed to help as well.

It is High normal. I just suggest that you do some excersise and a lot of sleep. Eat small meals. Good mental health to.

If you aren't already, start a gentle exercise program to get the heart working more more smoothly.

it is okay
thats not bad at all
eat less salt
if over wt lose wt
drink plenty of water
