Ladies with high blood pressure and pregnancy?

I am 16 years old and currently 9 months pregnant. I have had high blood pressure my whole entire life. I know that aint much but still. Well I got pregnant back in august of 2007. Every since I have been pregnant my blood pressure has been in the 120's. Well Thursday I went to the doctor they checked it and it was 150 over 80. The doctor got worried and out me on bed rest. I have been montering it and it has been around 170 to 190. I can not just lay on my left side all day. I feel fine. The docor said if I can not get my blood pressure down he is going to have to induce me. Is there any ways I can keep it down without laying all the time. I do not drink much pop maybe 1 a week. And I eat very healthy like salads, and 3 meals a day and tons of water. I do not want to harm my baby. So how can I keep my blood pressure down without having to lay all day. And what happens when they have to induce you? I am not worried about me I am worried about my baby. Can this harm him??? Please help!

Blood pressure 170-190 is EXTREMELY high in a pregnant woman and you run the risk of your placenta abrupting which could cause the death of both your baby and you.
There is nothing you can do to decrease your blood pressure except bed rest. Diet and exercise will not help you with this.
Be compliant with your doctor's advice, it is for the health of both you and your baby. You should stay on bedrest for the rest of the weekend and monitor your blood pressure. If your pressures are elevated while on bedrest you need to phone your doctor and he/she can advise you better. If you are OK over the weekend speak to him Monday about your concerns, if you are not going to be compliant with bedrest then you should be induced.
Induction is something you should talk about with your doctor. It sounds like at this point it would be better for you and your baby if you were delivered.

I went through the same thing. You can't do nothing about the BP b/c the baby is laying on a vein. You saw the increase in BP b/c your babe is got bigger & put more pressure on it. That is why it helps your BP when you lay on your side (he/she's off that vein). They induced me around 35 weeks. The doctor insert something to relax my cervix. Next morning, they will gave me meds to make me have contractions & just increased the meds to create stronger ones. After 1 hour of this, they did a c-section b/c my cervix wouldn't move & they thought I would be in labor for 3 days +. They thought it would be too hard on the babe. Which he came out fine but had to go into the baby ICU. The magnesium med for high BP makes you so sick! I sweated so bad but can't remember much b/c I was drugged. Just focus on that sweet babe to come! Congrats
