Does high blood pressure mean bed rest? |
I am currently 27 weeks pregnant with my first child. At my last doctors appointment my bp was a little high so I had to take a 24 hour urine test to test the levels of protien in my urine. This test came back normal and showed no signs of preeclampsia. I am still worried though because at the age of 50 my mother died of a stroke due to high blood pressure. Am I worrying for no reason? No high bp is a big problem in pregnancy compounded with your mothers death. doctors pronto and cut out all salt. High Blood Pressure is a dangerous thing never take it for granted.... With your mother you have history. It can be controlled with drugs, diet, and exercise.... just handle stress better for you and your baby. your mother died of a risk that happens with too much salt and too much stress. Nope it means less salt and more exesise and less calories. no i dont think that it means bed rest.....but you should probably cut some salt out and change your diet.....and if you worry to much you can have blood pressure....you need to think positive for you and ur child..........congrats hope all goes well When I was 30 something weeks I had to go on bedrest for the rest of my pregnancy due to high blood pressure. It never developed into Pre-E though. At 35 weeks I had to start taking BP meds. It wasn't that bad. Don't worry everything will be fine. Just try to take it easy and watch your salt intake. Bless! I work at an obgyn so as for wat i have seen dont worry most ppl have hbp thru pregnancy. it might be that u nervous or up and down too much so take time to rest. lay down to ur right or left side for a few minutes a day. be relaxed and stay calm. Not for no reason. You need to get your blood pressure down, for your health and the baby's. I had high blood pressure with all 3 of my pregnancys but I didn't go on bed rest with any of them but my first one. It also depends on how much water you are retaining. That was my biggest problem. I just had to take medicine for my blood pressure and take stress tests. |
