High blood pressure.. ? only 22 weeks! help..?

Ok, I am 22 weeks as of yesterday. I went to the doctor for my regularly monthly appointment and the heartbeat was strong and everything seemed good. They took my blood perssure and it was high and my pulse was "racing" ( as the nurse called it) also. So the doctor decided that i should have a home nurse come and see me everyday for the next week and monitor my blood pressure. This sucks big time. Basically i can't go anywhere or do anything because who knows when this lady is going to just show up at my house! lol! I go back to see my OB on august 30th ( 6 days from today).
I think i am just nurvous when i go in there because im afraid they wont find the heartbeat or something will be wrong with me and/or the baby so yeah i tend to freak a little bit. I hope it goes down? What if it doesn't? What will they do? Has anybody else had this happen? i really dont want my summer to be completely out of wack because of this and i sure as hell dont want to be on bedrest! Help!!!

Forget about enjoying summer just take care of yourself and your baby.As though many pregnant women with high blood pressure have healthy babies without serious problems, high blood pressure can be dangerous for both the mother and the fetus. Women with pre-existing, or chronic, high blood pressure are more likely to have certain complications during pregnancy than those with normal blood pressure. However, some women develop high blood pressure while they are pregnant (often called gestational hypertension).

The effects of high blood pressure range from mild to severe. High blood pressure can harm the mother's kidneys and other organs, and it can cause low birth weight and early delivery. In the most serious cases, the mother develops preeclampsia鈥攐r "toxemia of pregnancy"鈥攚hich can threaten the lives of both the mother and the fetus.

please stay calm and listen to the docter stay in bed. If you have high blood pressure you can devolope preclampsia which can be very dangerous. The only cure is to deliever the baby but bed rest can really help. Stay in bed and think happy thought.

I had HBP with my last pregnancy, started about 24 weeks. Had to get it checked everyday at the clinic, lucky for me it's just down the road, it was annoying though. It wasn't gettting any better so my doctor put me on HBP meds, and my blood pressure was fine after that, and my baby was fine, she's 2 now and healthy. I'm just hoping it don't happen again with this pregnancy! If you can go to a dietician, and they'll tell you what foods to avoid that have too much salt in them. Good Luck!!
