High Blood Pressure Help!?

I am a 21 year old female that is not overweight (5'6'' 130lb), and who exercises regularly (4-5 days a week). However, my blood pressure is about 140/90. My doctor says it is even higher for me because I am so young. He told me to measure my sodium intake on an average day. After a week of monitoring it, (not eating any differently) I found I rarely go above 2,000 mg a day (you should not go above 2,300-2,400) Is my case strictly hereditary, since I practically do everything possible to not have high blood pressure? Should I inquire about prescription drugs to control this? What else can I do about it? Will it just keep raising with age? I am especially concerned since my father died of a heart attack at the age or 41.

Are you taking birth control?

well, you can only put so much weight on one measurement. Get a BP monitor and measure at home. I'm sure you've heard of "white coat hypertension". Some people just get nervous when they are at the doctor.
Anyways, if it stays high or continues to rise, I would look for a secondary cause, just as medications you may be on, or conditions like renal artery stenosis or pheochromocytoma.

It sounds like you're doing all the right things. If the trend continues over the next few months, it'll probably be worth talking about medication. Most people with essential hypertension develop it in the third or fourth decade of life, and there's no reason to think it'll go higher later.

I would cut down on your salt, and talk to your dr. about maybe getting some drugs, or some tips to help you control your blood pressure.

first you should pray that god removes this sickness from your life because you are healed from the blood that jesus shed on calvary.

have it monitored more closely at the docor's office and at home. keep logs and show them to your doc.
