Pregnancy induced high blood pressure, still high after blood pressure meds... what next?

I was put on blood pressure meds at my previous appointment for high blood pressure, 100mg twice a day of labetalol [sp..??] and when I went in today, I was still high, so they increased it to 3 times a day.

Has anyone else had this and successfully been managed with just an extra dose? Or is the outlook for my blood pressure going down bad at this point?

The doctor told me i'm considered a high risk for pre-eclampsia now... anyone else have their pressure not controlled after the first round, and then fine from there out.

I also have the 24 hour urine collection going on... and I'm on bed rest.. I'm trying to stay positive because I'm only 33 weeks and I don't want to hurt the baby!

you will be fine. they will do the 24 hour urine test and let you know what is going on. they will keep you on the medication until you get a little further along and then induce labor. If the medicaton doesn't help and the think it is a better choice they will take your baby in the next couple of weeks but don't worry, the baby will be fine at this point.

i started gettin high blood pressure at the end of my pregnancey so the induced me and my son came that night he was only 10 days early though. just relax dont eat alot of salty foods that can cause your blood pressure to go up also when laying down lay on your side not your back!!!! just relax all will be fine and good luck and besides u are only 6 weeks shy of your due date if the baby has to come early he/she will be ok!!!!
