High Blood Pressure & Neuropathy? |
I was recently diagnosed with High Blood Pressure (not really high but high enough for medication - 142 / 80). However now I'm having a buring pain (just burning or pain - they're not hot to the touch) in my toes. My doctor said that it could be neuropathy (without running any type of nerve tests)due to the high blood pressure. I'm not diabetic as my sugar is 90. He put me on 200mg daily of Vitamin B-6 for the neuropathy. Is it possible for high blood pressure instead of diabetes to cause the neuropathy or is a possibility that it could be something else? Yes, it could be. But always check with a professional first. If your doctor doesn't run tests first before prescribing, ask for a second opinion or switch doctors. (And I have never heard of vitamins doing anything for neuropathy.) Hypertension, commonly referred to as "high blood pressure", is a medical condition in which the blood pressure is chronically elevated. While it is formally called arterial hypertension, the word "hypertension" without a qualifier usually refers to arterial hypertension. Hypertension has been associated with a higher risk of heart attack or stroke. |
