Does anyone know of some kind of illness that causes migraines and extremely high blood pressure.?

I have had chronic migraines for at least 10 years now but the doctors never figured out what caused it. We have done all the tests though and I know I at least dont have a tumor. However recently I had my blood pressure checked by 3 fire fighters (it was some community health thing)) and it was 240 over 185. That is normal, no migraine or anything. So they made me start seeing a doctor and we kept recording my pb regularly for a while and that was my resting blood pressure. (however my pulse is normal.) I'm on blood pressure meds now and my doctor has stopped looking for the cause of it.

I mean my mom has high blood pressure but she didnt get it till she was 40 and its no where near mine even at its worst. And i'm only 19, and I'm not over weight so I really dont think it can just be a genetic thing. Not to that extent. So if anyone has every heard of anything like this before any feed back is appreciated. I dont want something to come back and bite me later on in life.

Sounds like an uncommon dietary problem. My ex father in law had something like this and it took years to figure out.

There are non-traditional healers who can help you formulate a series of restricted diets to rule out certain common foods. His problem ended up coming from sodium, sulphites and a certain kind of animal protein. Once eliminated from his diet, he was all good.

If your doctor can't figure it out, then you probably won't either.

An odd one that is sometimes over looked is "pseduo tumor ceribri (sp)"

Also, anything that causes compramised blood flow to the brain can do this via the "cushings reflex"

You need to stay on those BP meds. I bet the high blood pressure was causing the terrible headaches! Sometimes people just have primary hypertension, which is what it sounds like your doctor decided you have.

Hidden sodium in foods is the main cause of high blood pressure, if you look in your cabinets and freezer, go read the labels on those boxed and frozen foods and see how much sodium is in those things. People don't realize what they consume and then wonder why they bloat up, gain weight can't loose weight and/or have high blood pressure.

As for migraines, my neighbor across the street gets them badly, no light, noise, nothing when she has them and I printed out a packet for her I printed online of foods to avoid and I remember one being yogurt, the other was any foods containing Red #'s or food coloring like hot dogs, etc.. Any labels with any number red in them, don't consume it, as they can trigger off a migraine.
