Why does my head hurt when bending down? It is a sharp pain. I might have high blood pressure.?

Every now and then I will occasionally get a chest pain for a brief moment. My blood pressure right now is 154-83. It was 158-87 a few minutes ago. Now when I bend down and stand up I get a sharp pain in my head. I don't have insurance. Would a doctor let me pay later? I am suppose to go start a new job next week and it require me to be outside. I am thinking I should call it off and wait till I know I am healthy and maybe just concentrate on school. What is recommended?

I'm not exactly sure what would cause your head to hurt when you bend down. You seem to have several issues here.

Sometimes with high blood pressure (hypertension) your head can experience an extreme amount of high pressure and it can cause pain when you bend over.

154/83 and 158/87 is considered severe hypertension. Are you on BP medicine? You probably should be.

High blood pressure increases your chance for heart disease, heart attack, and stroke.

About your chest pain, high blood pressure can cause chest pain but high blood pressure usually has no symptoms and is labeled "the silent killer."

Exerting yourself a lot (possibly during work) while having high BP is dangerous and I don't recommend it.

I know it can be difficult for people with potential health problems to seek health care with no insurance, therefore, you could:

A) Visit an ER. In the United States, an ER is required by federal law to evaluate and treat you regardless of your ability to re-pay, financial aid is usually available. A lot of times, county government will pay for a certain portion of your bill if they find out you can't afford it and something was actually wrong, but not always.

B) Usually all University medical centers do not reject patients for care, as they are owned by that state in some cases. You could make an appointment with an internist there.

C) Find a free medical clinic, often seen as affiliated with a University medical center but not always.

D) Ask an independent doctor's office about what they offer.

E) You say you are in school? Most colleges offer insurance plans.

Then, if you are prescribed BP medicine make sure that it is generic and then take it your local Wal-Mart Pharmacy.
Their $4.00 program covers the most popular generic BP medicines.

Either way, I think you should definitely be evaluated for your chest pain and your BP.

Good luck!
