Hat's a high blood pressure for a pregnant women? |
mines has been around 150/79 and it is usually 106/60. This started a couple of days ago. My hands and feet got so swollen I couldn't even close my hands and I seriously look like I have no ankles... my mom freaked when she say it. I called the doctor he told me not to worry unless I had a head or blurry vision. Well I told him that I had been dizzy, extremely hot and unusually tired after just waking up. He said I'll see you at your next appt. I went to wal-mart to pick up Tylenol and took my blood pressure and decided it was was way to high and went to the hospital. No protein in my urine, but continued high blood pressure, head aches and still dizzy and continually sweating like crazy in extreme air conditioning. Maybe I am paranoid but my mother had toxemia and almost died in every pregnancy. They didn't take blood samples or anything. Is this usualy? I am 38 weeks pregnant. I'm currently going through pregnancy induced hypertension right now and the nurse told me that anything over 150/100 is very bad, especially if it's accompanied by swelling of the hands, feet and face, headaches, nausea or visual disturbances. I agree with momma. I Had high blood pressure and it got so bad that they ended up inducing my pregnancy then it got worse and I had an emergency C-section. I think you should let your doctor know. You and your child can suffer from some serious complications from it. that is high..where are you in your pregnancy?? that's high. Anything over 140 is high. Does your Dr. know? I'd keep a close watch on it. I would say that is pretty high. You should probably get that checked out. My doctor told me they judge high blood pressure if it is 30 points above what your base is....so for you the top number is high. The swelling does concern me. I had Pre-eclampsia myself and it shocks me your doctor didn't take it more seriously! If there is no way you can't get in to see him before your next scheduled appts. try to take it easy and stay on bedrest as much as possible. Just because you don't have all the symptoms of pre-eclampsia like headaches doesn't mean you don't have it.....it may mean you just don't have it yet. Above all if things start getting worst do not be afraid to go back to the ER! I had high blood pressure through both of my pregnancies. they usually don't worry too much unless the bottom number gets above 90 or 95. As long as you don't have protien in your urine, you don't have toxemia (aka preeclampsia). I never got it and I lasted until 37 and 38 weeks with my pregnancies and my blood pressure was over 150/95 for most of my pregnancies. I had to take blood pressure medicine but it didn't work very well. I had a lot of headaches (they felt like pressure, like if you hang upside down for too long and all the blood rushes to your head) I also felt dizzy, had swollen hands and feet and saw spots of light in my vision. The overheating is just from being pregnant, not from high blood pressure. Both of my babies were fine, too. |
