High blood pressure advice needed till I see GP in morning.?

I have high blood pressure and am taking Ramipril 5mg in the mornings only yesterday evening my BP went up to 186/107 heart rate 92 but I rested and it went down a good bit although still high, this evening I started to get a pumping feeling in my head same as yesterday I have just taken BP and it is 173/105 heart rate 99. I am just sitting here not doing anything to make it go up only I was wondering how high I should let my get BP before I should call for help. I have a history of TIAs and I am going to see my doctor in the morning any advice on how high before I call for help, thanks.

Thanks, I was on 2.5mg and it was put up only I'm thinking I may be better off taking a 2.5mg morning and night, it's just a bit scary when I live on my own.

Hello Bernie-maybe the doctor will change your medication-it may not be working for you! I'm on two one for the pressure and the other one is a beta blocker to slow the heart down-appears to be working ok as blood pressure now normal -Obviously tell the doctor when you see him/her and good luck x It should tell you on the package-best to keep to directions Bernie!

Raised blood pressure only gives a statistical increased risk of stroke or heart attack, spread over a long period of time. I assume with your history you are already on some anti-platelet therapy such as aspirin. There is no need to be unduly concerned and no need to do anything before your GP check tomorrow.

You have got Stage 2 Hypertension.
You should take microalbuminuria test to ascertain whether your kidney is affected. Also check your retina for hypertensive retinopathy. (Malignant hypertension is usually defined as very high blood pressure with swelling of the optic nerve behind the eye. The swelling of the optic nerve behind the eye is called papilledema.)
Ramipril is used alone or in combination with other medications to treat high blood pressure. It is also used to reduce the risk of heart attack and stroke in patients at risk for these problems and to improve survival in patients with heart failure after a heart attack. Ramipril is in a class of medications called angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors. It works by decreasing certain chemicals that tighten the blood vessels, so blood flows more smoothly and the heart can pump blood more efficiently.
