I am pregnant and was taking Metropelol for High Blood Pressure

I stopped taking it as soon as I suspected I was pregnant. Is this harmful to pregnancy? What are the chances of it causing problems? I am waiting on a return call from the Dr but was hoping you all had some experience with this.

It's too early for any permanent damage to be done, and if there was, you would've had a miscarriage.

Women have been known to be drinking a lot before they knew they were pregnant, and of course they were concerned, but nothing bad happened.

Most women get a surprise pregnancy, and oftentimes they were doing things they would normally not do if they knew they were pregnant

I can't say about metropolol specifically, but generally speaking you should be fine.

However, if you have chronically high blood pressure, it could be more dangerous to the pregnancy for you to stop taking it. Many women need to stay on medications to manage their blood pressure during pregnancy. I know that aldomet is a very common one.

Just trust your doctor's judgment on this one, you'll likely still need to take something to manage your pressures during pregnancy.
