Chronic High Blood Pressure questions? |
If you had what the doctors call Chronic High Blood Pressure during your pregnancy... How early were you induced? And did you have to do non stress tests? I did with my 2nd pregnancy, and with this one they said they will get me to 37-38 weeks and induce me then. I'm just wondering if this is standard procedure. Please tell me your stories. they didn't say anything about the NST's but I'm wondering if I'll have to do those too. Hi! I have chronic high blood pressure and am currently 34 weeks pregnant. I started NSTs last week and have to go for them twice a week (partially due to the fact that I am at high risk for preeclampsia). I had high blood pressure with all three of my pregnancies, at the end mostly. Yes, it is very standard procedure to be induced and have tests. With my oldest I went into labor three weeks early, but with my 2nd he let me go until I was 40 weeks only because it wasn't horribly bad and he had me on bed rest so i was doing okay. I had non stress tests with her as well. You probably won't have NSTs unless it gets really high, but it can depend on your doctor and if you have any other medical problems. With my third, I had so many other problems that it wasn't just high blood pressure so I was doing the tests and ultrasounds twice a week, but he ended uo giving me a c-section a month early. But it wasn't just because of the HBP. Overall, being indiced at the time is not a bad thing, but they may want to do an amniocentesis to check if the lungs are completely developed because a lot of doctors don't like to let you have a baby unless they know for sure. You may also be put on bed rest if it gets too bad. Good luck! Sounds about like me. I had to do NSTs every week for the last month, and I was induced at 37 weeks. That seems to be the magic number! Good luck! |
