Ok im 38wks Pregnant and the Midwife said that I have high blood pressure it is 120 ova 80 is that bad?

This is my first pregnancey and I have to go in the hospital early to have a c-section is that rite becuase I wanted to have a vaginal birth I think that my blood pressure 120 ova 80 is fine but what do you think?

if your midwife isnt concerned about your blood pressure then dont worry yourself cause worrying only causes your blood pressure to rise! some people need to have a c section, cause either;
A Large Baby
Sometimes a baby is too big to pass safely through the mother's vagina and the surrounding bones (pelvis). This is known as cephalopelvic disproportion. It is normally determined by the size of the baby on ultrasound examination and the size of the pelvis as seen on X-ray, CT scan or MRI pelvimetry.
Multiple Pregnancy
Women having two or more babies may need cesarean birth.
Failure of Labor to Progress
About one-third of cesarean births are done because labor stops.
Concern for the Baby
The baby could be having trouble during labor and may need to be delivered by cesarean birth. One reason may be that the umbilical cord is pinched or compressed or not enough blood is flowing to the baby from the placenta.
Problems with the Placenta
Placenta previa is a condition in which the placenta is below the baby and covers part or the entire cervix. This will block the baby's exit from the uterus. Abruption placenta occurs when there is an extensive separation of the placenta from the uterine wall and the fetus is in danger if not delivered immediately. In this situation a cesarean section is done.
Medical Conditions
Women with certain medical conditions are more likely to have a cesarean birth. For example, if a woman has diabetes or high blood pressure. Fetal illnesses or abnormalities can also make labor and vaginal delivery unacceptably risky or traumatic.
Sexually Transmitted Diseases
Since HIV can be passed from the mother to the fetus during vaginal birth, a cesarean is normally performed. Also, an active herpes infection with evidence of cervical or genital lesions makes a cesarean section necessary.
Previous Cesarean Birth
Sometimes, having had a cesarean birth before can play a part in whether you will need to have one again. Many women, however, who have had a cesarean birth before can try to deliver vaginally. If the reason for the first still exists than a second cesarean is probably possible.
Preeclampsia or Eclampisa
Women who suffer from preeclampsia that doesn鈥檛 respond to treatment, a cesarean birth may be necessary to save both the mother and the baby's life.
A Postmature Fetus
If a baby stays in the womb too long, the uterine environment may begin to deteriorate and threaten the health of the baby.
Failure of Labor to Progress
If the baby stops advancing down the birth canal for some reason, it may be necessary to perform a c-section.
Prolapsed Umbilical Cord
If the umbilical cord begins to cut off oxygen to the fetus, causing fetal distress, a cesarean is usually advised.

If you have been advise to have a c section it could be any of the above things, i know you opting for a vaginal birth but sometimes it doesn't always happen the way you want, as long as your baby and yourself is healthy i dont think you should worry

I've always heard 120/80 is great. It's normal. Why do you have to have a c-section? If it's for medical reasons,it's understandable,if not, then I would maybe just well nevermind it's too late for you to find another doctor. I would most definitely talk to one at least though. I would most definitely find out though, because some doctors like to do c-section because it's quick and easy for them, not to mention the money they get out of it.

i had a look in my pregnancy book and my blood pressure was 120/80 at 29 weeks. my midwife didnt say it was high, she said it was normal.
at other appointments my blood pressure has been
19 weeks= 110/60
25 weeks=140/70
28 weeks=100/60
32 weeks=120/60
36 weeks=120/50
you could always go and get a second opinion.

That is weird because I thought 120 over 80 is fine. That is what my blood pressure is usually at. I am 30 weeks pregnant and had high blood pressure before becoming pregnant and now my blood pressure is great.
Maybe you need a second opinion. I know doctors like to do c-section more because its quick and easy for them. You need to find out more info.
Good Luck

120/80 was textbook normal for quite a few years, but now it is 120/60, but i don't think that is horrible, but you should really ask more questions of your midwife, since we don't know all the details.

Hypertension (or high blood pressure) is diagnosed when systolic is above 140 mmHg or diastolic is above 90 mmHg. Technically you are in the pre-hypertension stage.

Ova is Latin for egg. Over is a correct word and should be used. 120/80 is wonderful and completely normal. Maybe your midwife does not know how to spell either or read numbers.

that's the normal.....atleast that's what i've been told and that's where my blood pressure usually is. I don't know what they are thinking.

here in uk it used to be considered high if it was say 150/90 or higher, depends whether you have protein in urine
otherwise perfectly normal

High blood pressure is 140/90. You dont have high blood pressure!!

No that is normal
