Im 6 weeks with high blood pressure and i am on medication for it is that healthy for me and my baby?

Please listen to your doctor's advice regarding the treatment of high blood pressure and do not seek advice from untrained people on the internet. If you are newly pregnant and your doctor is unaware of this, call him first thing in the morning and make him aware, as some (not all) blood pressure medications can harm a fetus. But high blood pressure is extremely dangerous to the fetus and the mother, and has to be controlled throughout pregnancy with appropriate medications. Source(s): I am a cardiologist.

the impression i have of that specific issue is that it is not recommended to take meds for it during pregnancy. i too am struggling with high blood pressure during my pregnancy and the Dr. was just telling me on Friday (I had to go right in, it was 162/70) that they are going to monitor it closely and frequently before putting me on meds. i'm not sure how safe it is. i know some medications cannot get through the uteris and are safe to take. although there may be something that IS safe. that would be a discussion to have with your doctor. good luck.
i had my labor induced when i was 36 weeks because my bp was 150/90. they talked about putting me on meds but never did. and now i still have problems with it. the highest it's gotten that i know of is 186/110 and that was 1 week after they induced me. but my bp didn't get high until i was 30 weeks pregnant. i think there are meds they can put you on but they don't like to do it. i would get a second opinion from another doctor.
