All of a sudden, High blood pressure! Why?

I'm 38 and have been in great health all my life! Now all of a sudden my blood pressure has been 188/122, 197/119, extremely high for anyone! I've been to the doctor and have even been prescribed high blood pressure pills, but have not been successful! Any advice or opinions on what to do to get it to go back down?

time to see a medicine specialist. check the yellow pages and internet for "internal medicine" specialist.

don't mess around with malignant hypertension i have it and it nearly took all of my eyesight and gave me a stroke.

do it now.

or go to the ER and tell them you're not feeling well they'll check your blood pressure and then shove it down with proper medications.

you've got to get that blood pressure down now.

good diet and exercise always works for this.
Are you going through anything traumatic or stressful in your life? Are you going through menopause? Get a second opinion before you have a heart attack.
same thing happened to me when i was 32 . the doctor gave any # of reasons from narrowing of the arteries to a possible kidney disorder. how is your cholesterol if it is good and you seem in good health otherwise you may never know a cause. when u have high blood pressure that there is no known cause for they call it existential high blood pressure. for lowering it there is the usu all of course stay away from salt ,alcohol, caffeine, ect.... but i hear more and more about bananas being good at lowering blood pressure the most imp. thing is taking the medication . i think if it were dangerous high the doc would be doing more testing to find out why good luck
