My deployed husband has very high blood pressure... any suggestions?

The military doctor told him just to drink more water. He had gone in for a sinus infection. Doesn't sinus medication raise blood pressure also? Isn't that dangerous? That doesn't seem quite right, but it's the military. They'll prescribe motrin for a broken arm. I think he said it was 164/102.

Hi, Just a guess. If he is in the Desert, he is taking salt supplements. One of the causes of high B/P. Caution with Nasal Sprays. Read the side effects....If he can find some honey from the Area, he can use it, and build immunity from the Pollen in it. Especially if he chews the waxy cappings. Might be a few bees legs, no problem I'll bet, compared to what he is experiencing.

Kindest Regards Marilyn
That's pretty high. I've been told, but never tried, to drink a little vinegar everyday. Maybe red wine vin, or apple cider vin, or even white vin....dont know for sure.
stress adrenilin and sicknees all contribute! so he needs to lie back and relax until infection is gone. and all the water available!
Yeah, his blood pressure is high-- but it's not horrible. I have had higher blood pressure than that at certain points.
I don't know if sinus infections will raise a blood pressure, but is he on any medications? Certain medicines have the ability to raise blood pressures considerably. My own blood pressure was off-the-wall just because I was practically OD-ing on Benadryl due to some killer pollen allergies.
If you're still worried, have him eat fish-- that's a proven way to lower blood pressure.
Good luck!
Yes, it is high in comparison the the figures put out by the amarican heart association. He needs to have it monitored if this is the first hight reading. If it remains high, then there is medicine available for it. Sinus medicine containing sudafed can raise the blood pressure and heart rate.
I had high BP. I take meds to keep it under control (no side effects). Diet, excercise, good cardio health, working a day shift (good sleep), and staying hydrated all contribute to lowering BP.
HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE IS THE UNITED STATES SILENT KILLER. Your husband should get it under wraps asap.
