What are the symtons of high blood pressure?

i have been getting real red in the face from my collar down. i thought it was because i ran out of roscea cream. mom said it isn't,my face is more red than normal and all over. even people at work have commented,and i wear make-up. it's less red when i'm lying down. mom wants me to check for high blood pressure since her and dad are both on medication for it. i thought high- blood pressure caused other symptons like dizziness and light headedness, symptons i don't have.
so what are the symtons? i'm 22, female, about 5ft4, and 170 lbs. am i at risk? should i be checking?

well high bp or hypertension could have several or no symptoms. When referring to you bp there will be a systolic/diastolic pressure at your age i would worry more about ur diastolic the difference between the two is as follows the systolic pressue is the pressure excerpted against ur arterial walls when ur heart contracts and diastolic is just opposite its the pressure when ur heart relaxes so its bad to have a high pressure when ur heart isn't working because it will be even higher when it does .And if u get red or light headed when u stand up or sit up it could actually mean ur dehydrated and u have a positive ortostatic bp rise when u stand up. however if u r really concerned about it i would check with ur doctor and see it could be controlled with diet or fluid in minor cases..hope it helps Source(s): Im a paramedic

high blood pressure can be almost symptom-less, but seems to be a possibility with the symptoms described. 22 seems very young to have it, though. your weight puts you at a slightly higher risk. go get it checked for peace of mind

you're definitely at risk because of heredity and your weight not to mention diabeties as well. GO get it checked. You can go to a hospital and ask a nurse when she's not too busy if you can't afford it. Don't use the one in a store. They are not accurate.
Go get your bp checked and compare to norm.

Do you have a fever? does your throat hurt?
is your tongue raw? if so, you should see a MD immediately
