Can I take benadryl if I have high blood pressure?

i was instructed by my cardiologist to not take benadryl with blood pressure medication. it causes the heart to race and beat faster, thus raising the blood pressure to a, sometimes, alarming level.
it's like playing with fire.
You can try, just take a half to begin with. I don't always trust over the counter stuff anymore than i trust prescription side effects. When I personally tried Benadryl it made my heart race, so maybe try a half dosage and see what it does
Good luck
Tried it and it caused palpatations of the heart
