What is the best way to treat SEVERELY High Blood Pressure in a 21 year old young man (systolic 170)~genetic?

My fiance has been diagnosed with HBP, but the doctors are not helping him much stating "this is usually a problem for older people". We know there are genetic influences on his condition (his one grandfather passing away from a heart attack in his 30's?). We have cut out salt, he drinks very rarely, he doesnt use drugs, he exercises, and is not overweight at all...and now, both of us are just scared.
A doctor mentioned Beta Inhibitors? and another calcium channel inhibitors...
Also, is there a way to find a doctor who will actually care a little instead of throwing him into the category of HBP with 60 year old men and telling him to watch what he eats (not that he can watch it anymore).

Familial inheritance is definitely an important factor for hypertension. However, it is still too EARLY for a young person to develop hypertension in early 20. Therefore, a thorough physical examination and medical investigation should be performed to rule out SECONDARY cause of hypertension (e.g. pheochromocytoma, a adrenal tumor producing excessive adrenalin to cause vasocontriction and hypertension) There are a long list of causes of secondary hypertension, in which many conditions have genetic components. I'll suggest you to have medical consultation to have proper assessment to RULE OUT secondary cause. After treating secondary cause (e.g. surgical removal of pleochromocytoma), hypertension will be cured.

After excluding secondary causes, there are several ways to control hypertension. Simply, they can be either non-medical or medical. For non-medical methods, the key is lifestyle modification, e.g. regular exercise, dietary salt restriction, avoid smoking/coffee intake. For medical methods, many different classes of antihypertensive drugs are widely available.
This is ONLY an input, so, do not hold me too it. Diet is good, but, what kind of exercise???? I get out the old push mower in summer and mow the front yard every week, and, my Blood Pressure Drops. Work in the Yard with a Manuel rake in winter. There exercise and there REAL exercise. I just tell what works for me, there soooooo many factors here.
the beast way is by consuming garlic and union, despite the breth going toget ugly fore a while, garlic is proven could control blood, but you dont have to eat it just like that, u can put it on you food's like burger ore stake etc

Here are some things he can do:
1. First go see a nutrition expert.
2. Hypnosis can be used to control and open blood vessels more than they are now, unless he has a blocked location in his body.
3.The mind is the most powerful thing in his body, there are some CD's he can listen to, which will help lower his blood Pressure.
4.Cardio Exercise should be atleast 21 minutes or more depending on his heart rate during this exercise.
5.Keep a log of his BP for one month, check it three times per day, morning when he awakes, before eating at noon time, after work 6pm to 8pm. If he works shift work his BP will be higher working 2nd shift or third shift.
6.Also their are some passages in the bible you can use to heal people, I have seen for myself, I tell you the truth.
You need to know the diastolic number. That is the most important. Normal for him should be about 120 over 60.

Hypertension runs in my family. I had to actually go to 4 doctors before one would believe me. It doesn't matter how much we weigh, eat, use salt, drink, none of that matters. I could weigh 100 pounds or 300, no difference.

I have 3 children,a son 42, daughters 37 and 34. They all have it. And they are on daily medication. Age has nothing to do with it. Please find another doctor, don't stop with this one.
eventhough he is just 21 yrs old,he can get hypertension if it is genetically related.for that i think he will have to start some antihypertensive drug along with salt restriction, exercise and so on to prevent further complications.as high BP is definately injurious to end organs like heart,brain,kidneys...it is also wise to rule out any other causes leading to secondary hypertension [eg.renal artery disease].so i think it is better to consult your physician.
