Just found out my hubby who is 24 has high blood pressure any advice? |
hubby is fit and healthy rides bike for an hour a day and takes the dog out twice a day. does not smoke eats healthy (we all have the odd takeaway max 2 a month). why has he got this and any tips on what i should be doing to help him out. the docs have told him to rest for a week to see if it improves. his symptons have been dizzyness, stumbling, feeling sick and shaking hands when he goes dizzy. never experienced anything like this before so any advice would be great. go straight back to the gp and tell him more detail. Without knowing how high it was its difficult to answer. In the meantime tell him to relax and put his feet up and stop stressing. When getting up, do it slowly and in stages and this will help the dizziness he is feeling. Make sure he eats well to as these could be symptons of issues with Blood Sugar levels no more screwing i'd get him insured to the max if I was you He sounds like he is doing all the right things to stay healthy. It could either too much stress or just part of his genetic makeup. There are some meds that can help. Maybe he need to utilize relaxation techniques to reduce his stress. His HTN(hypertension) could be familial,or for another variety of reasons.I know several people including myself that have familial HTN.I have had it since I was 20.Just be sure to have it treated and keep an eye on it as to avoid future problems such as Gluacoma,Kidney failure,arteriosclerosis,strok... attacks. Not trying to frighten you but these are the facts. Get to a doctor. Now. Please. Do not pass go, do not collect $200. And please don't listen to anyone who sends you to the homeopathic department of a vitamin store--this is too serious for playing doctor. The dizziness, stumbling, feeling sick and shaking hands remind me of some of the symptoms I had with hypoglycemia (low blood sugar). Check out the symptoms link at www.hufa.org and see if he is experiencing any others. The doctor should test him for high insulin (cause of low blood sugar and diabetes as well as heart trouble including high blood pressure, high cholesterol, high triglycerides). In the meantime, make sure he gets 21-35 grams of protein (about 3-5 ounces of meat) at each of the 3 main meals, and a snack of about 7-14 grams of protein (1-2 ounces of meat) at each of 3 in between meal snacks, along with nuts (almonds) and some low sugar carbohydrate (the less processed the better). This will level his blood sugar, and that should keep the dizziness and other symptoms away, for now. Please e-mail me if you have questions. |
