Is it wrong to take Creatine to exercise if I have high blood pressure ?? Taking creatine should not be a problem. Creatine does nothing that would complicate your condition. Just don't overdo it; that goes for all creatine users. Your body only needs 3-5g of creatine phosphate per day, and in in the interest of keeping your system stable, do not follow the loading period sometimes recommended on the packaging - just start right off with the maintenance dose. A little background about creatine for those who are interested: creatine phosphate provides a quick way for muscle cells to regenerate ATP, the universal cellular energy source. However, creatine stores are depleted rapidly, usually within a few seconds tops. As far as comparisons to other athletic supplements, creatine usage is not considered doping and honestly is not anything to worry about. In fact, your liver actually makes a small amount of creatine, and for those of you who eat meat, you get a gram or two of the stuff from your diet everyday. You would get more, but cooking food denatures creatine to creatinine, the waste product of creatine. Your body is designed to absorb up to 3-5g daily from dietary intake though, so that is why supplementing with creatine will help most short-burst athletes. A quick final note about dosing: taking more than 5g per day will not give you any added benefits, and will only put your kidneys into overdrive. Source(s): Self (Major - Physiology, The University of Arizona) Wikipedia: "Creatine" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/creatine... It is ok, but you just have to be more careful. Creatine is eliminated via creatinine through the kidneys. If you have problems with hypertension, this may lead to problems with the kidneys. The kidneys are more susceptible with respects to renal failure. When that happens, you will not be able to eliminate excessive creatine as well as other metabolic wastes. The best thing would be to consult with your regular physician who follows you for your hypertension. If you have a good healthy diet and exercise regimen, you don't really need to take creatine supplements. If you do though, make sure you drink enough fluids to stay well hydrated. If you are taking the creatine and not exercising enough, then the creatine will just be wasted and not be of any use. My mom said u cant hardly take anything with high blood pressure so i would ask a doctor. |
