I am taking a lot of good natural herbs and supplements for high blood pressure...? |
but which herbs and foods are BAD for hypertension and high blood pressure. I know cola and coffe are out....what other herbs and foods are a no-no. I need to reduce my blood pressure a whole lot more. I chew on clerery seed, take things like serrapeptase, vit c and b, omega 3, CQ10, grape seed extract.... sounds like youre doing some good stuff. Have you tried adding apple cider vinegar to your supplement list? It does wonders for lowering bad cholesterol and helps with digestion. As far as foods to avoid read your labels carefully for sodium content and reduce that as much as possible. A lot of things you would think would be good for you are loaded with salt - things like soups etc. Try to get rid of processed foods and eat raw fruits and veggies every day. That simple step by itself can help. Also if you eat a lot of red meat, consider trying to cut that out of your diet as well. As far as herbs to avoid you may want to avoid things that are used in "diet pills" like guarana (caffeine in natural form) ginsengs, ephedra, stuff of that nature. Foods that are bad: salt, diet soft drinks, meat tenderizers, soy saudce, all animal fat, bacon, beef, bouillons, chick liver, corned beef, dairy products, gravies, pork sausage, smoked or processed meats. Brailed white fish and skinless turkey or chicken can be consumed in moderation. Avoid foods such as aged cheesed, aged meats, anchovies, avocados, chocolate, fava beans, pickled herring, sour cream, sherry, wine, and yogurt. Avoid all alcohol, caffeine, and tobacco. Do not take supplements containing the amino acids phenylalanine or tyrosine. Also avoid the artificial sweetener aspartame, (Equal, NutraSweet), which contains phenylalanine. Also avoid the herbs ephedra (ma huang) and licorice, as these herbs can elevate blood pressure. Prescription for Nutritional Healing by James F. Balch M.D. and Phylis Balch C.N.C. Garlic helps aid in lowering blood pressure. I have been doing this for years. Keep away from as much sodium in foods as possible and cut out all table salt. Also try some herbs with calming effect such as Passion Flower and Black Haw. Hawthorn also helps lower blood pressure and is good for the heart. People with high blood pressure should stay away from Panax Ginseng and Licorice Root. Both can raise blood pressure. Best wishes for a healthy life. just wanna say that there are some herbs are toxic to the liver....just make sure that what u take for u're blood pressure isn't damaging something else... |
