Ten days sugar-free, meat-free with the goal of getting free from my high-blood pressure meds. Any hints?

I am about 25 lbs overweight and hoping this will help shed the weight, and get me free from addictive eating. Meat just grosses me out, so greasy and all the chemicals in it. The main thing I miss is salmon.
I am swimming every morning, and walking a lot. Why haven't I started losing? I wonder if I am eating too many starches. I eat about 1200-1400 a day.
I feel really good, but a little dopey-like I have had a glass of wine.
Any help would be appreciated.

Yes you are probably eating too many simple carbs....and not enough leafy dark green veggies.

You also need to drink 64 oz of water a day

The 'dopey' feeling you have may be due to out of whack blood sugar level....either too low or too high.

Too combat hypertension you must eliminate added salt...keep to low sodium or no sodium foods [canned etc]...exercise; drink water; and keep weight down...hypertension is a sister/brother to adult onset diabetes[Type II] as is high cholesterol and high triglycerides....Also at least 3 meals a day [preferably 5 small ones] CONSISTENCY in what, how much and when in eating is paramount to a healthy metabolism

BTW - salmon is GREAT for anyone with hypertension, diabetes etc...it is NOT bad for you and is in all healthy diets...
to reduce fluid retention, do a relaxation program.
with relaxing yoga or CDs.

why not re-introduce salmon into your diet?..its really good for you and high protein... tuna is excellent as well.

my tip would be to stop caffiene...it affects your blood sugar levels and causes cravings for 'naughty' food...white bread is also packed with carbohydrates..which make you full temporarily - and then you crash down off of the carbs and need more food...vicious circle really. hope you do well though!
put the salmon back in its one of the most beneficial foods one can get when on any diet. dont try to lose it too fast or it will come back worse than before, make sure that you are losing fat and not muscle stick to canola and or olive oil for your meals ,and use garlic religiously it is the worst enemy of fats
The key to any diet is a well rounded nutritional intake. You can obtain your protein from other sources like tofu and be sure the carbs you are eating are whole grain carbs and not bleached white flour carbs. You can eat a healthy well rounded vegetarian diet. Also be sure you are drinking enough water.

It is also a good idea to alternate cardio with light weights. A good, reasonable weight loss is 2-3 pounds a week. This may slow as you lose an initial burst of weight. Take measurements (chest, stomach, hips) and judge inches lost as well as weight lost. Remember muscle weighs more than fat, but it metabolizes food better and quicker.
