Paralysis can be caused by many different things. It can be caused by mechanical damage i.e as a result of an accident to the spinal cord. It can be caused by a cerebral vascular accident (stroke). It can be caused by damage to a nerve by repetitive strain injury and also viral or bacterial attack. Sometimes there is no solution to the paralysis and sometimes surgery can be performed to put the two ends of the damaged nerves together. Results though are often poor.
