When is blood pressure high enough to call your doctor or go to the hospital? |
has been as high as 176/124, but now is running around 144/105... After reading all the answers of the above respondents, I will advise you to report immediately to an ER, as the BP reading are putting stress on your Coronaries & your Cerebral Artery/arteries. So before you end up in any Complication/s as BP 130/90 is high over 144/105 is affecting the coronaries and 170/124 both as mentioned above. Source(s): I am a doctor. Are you currently taking any medication for it? Yes, see your Doctor. There are some great medicines to lower it and that will lower your risk for stroke. Try to go either to urgent care or get in to your own DR. Your blood pressure in not stable and can lead to a stroke starting at 190 to 210 and up. You need to contact your doctor to get this regulated with medication. You lower number is too high right now but your top 144 is ok but not great. Shoot for around 115 over 80ish. I have high blood pressure also. If your diastolic bp (the lower number) is >100 for over an hour, call your dr. immediately. It is high enough to cause a stroke if it remains elevated. On systolic (upper number) if it is >170-180, then I would worrry..... Sounds like you need to call your dr., and if you don't get some kind of immediate response, head to the ER. RN |
