have been told before.. Then the nurse listened to my heart for about 10 mins in all different places and told me I might have a heart murmur. My first question is what is high blood pressure? and how serious is it? I am 19 years old, I am not over weight, I do not eat fried fatty foods, I eat very healthy for the most part, and I dont smoke. The only reason I can think maybe I have it because my dad does my aunt does and both of my grandparents do.also because I dont work out, But arent I kind of young to have high blood pressure? I never even really thoguht anything of it when they have told me in the past but is it sometihng bad? I have never told my parents because my dad is like a health freak and will tell me I need to work out all the time, then contiounsly be on my case about working out.The heart murmur thing sounded scary though I dont even know what it is, can something cause you to have a heart murmur? I have been taking these energy pills , could they have caused it?
High blood pressure effects roughly 1 in 4 people, whatever their age; so in other words it is common. High blood pressure is basically when the pressure of the blood which is pumped around your body becomes raised. Imagine this.. Your blood pressure becomes so raised that the pressure of the blood pumping through out body causes the artery to your heart to break! If this happenend then the blood wouldn't reach your heart & you would have had a heat attack ( a heart attack is when not enought blood reaches your heart) high bp doen't only effect your heart in can effect other organs too such as ur liver.. your doc should have answered these questions . also, it is unusual for a nurse to make the diagnosis of heart murmur-that is the docs job.if i were you, with your family history, i would get a second opinion. please ask the doc your questions and give your family history. high blood pressure is known as the silent killer for a good reason. take care!
