Is 140/84 high for blood pressure?

Is 140/84 high for blood pressure?

Blood pressure measurements should never be based off of one time. It should be based off of three + measurements taken on different days not under stress (sickness, rushing to the doctor, white coat syndrome) If you are consistantly getting 140/84, this is getting on the high side. Your blood pressure should be less than 135/85, which is still borderline high. Depending on what other health conditions you have would be how aggressive the doctors would try to manage your blood pressure. The first step, especially at this level, should be diet management with a low sodium diet. Source(s): med student

140/84 is on the higher side but not excessively high. A blood pressure reading of this nature needs to be watched and if it remains high the doc may opt to treat it.
The normal blood pressure for an adult is 120/80...therefore the systolic is slightly high (the top number) but the diastolic is within normal limits.
