Because that is the cause of high blood pressure that is why you know.
The doc has already explained it to you.

I would suggest that if the doctor says that you have high blood pressure caused by stress...and you're stressing out because he's telling you your high blood pressure is caused by stress...that you either:

a) stop stressing out so that your blood pressure can go down
b) get a second opinion
You don't. It sounds like your dr. just sort of patted you on the head & sent you on your way. We women are often treated like that by our drs, who would not treat a male patient that way. If you feel that you have unanswered questions, press for answers. If you're still not satisfied, try a different doctor. Your health is in your hands. No one, not even a dr., will look out for your health as well as you can yourself. Demand answers.
Most elevated BP is described as ' idiopathic ' or sometimes ' essential '. This means we don't actually know the cause. Attributing any condition to ' stress ' is potentially unwise, mainly because we don't really have a way of reliably measuring stress.

If your BP is raised in the surgery, in view of your young age, your GP should be organising a 24 hour BP monitor to exclude ' white coat hypertension ', BP that is only up if the doctor take it.

If you really do have raised pressure at 25 years you need referral to exclude rare causes of hypertension such as pheochromcytoma and renal artery stenosis.

i know someone who as had 5 heart attacks in the space off 15 years and still here these days gps put you on beater blockers asprin or wafferin and a mild anti depresant to relax the heart muscle if you take the medication and keep to the directions of your gp every thing will be ok if your still worried get your doc to make you a appiontment with a cardio phrasic surgeon excuse my spelling please
