What does it mean when one's pulse is high but their blood pressure is normal or low? |
What does it mean when one's pulse is high but their blood pressure is normal or low? Without more info it is hard to say. Lots of things can make your pulse (P) go up while your blood pressure (BP) is normal. Caffeine, nicotine and other stimulants will do it. Emotions can do it as well. Being in poor physical shape can cause you to have a higher P, while your BP remains normal. However the BP will start to creep up with time if a person remains "out of shape". There are other health conditions that can cause this as well. If you have a really fast thready P with a low BP in conjunction with an illness or injury (especially anything involving heavy bleeding) this is a sign of shock. your heart is beating fast but not very srong its overworking without pumpin any more blood. i would ask a doctor ,though, not a bunch of dumba**es on yahoo answers Usually it may be termed as Sinus Tachycardia if there is no other signs or symptoms like chest pain, breathing difficulty, dizziness, sweating etc. or without any ECG change. Heart rate should be more than 100/min if you want to call it tachycardia. There are some other disease conditions what can cause tachycardia with normal BP named Atrial fibrilation / flutter, Supra ventricular Tachycardia (SVT) etc. Other causes for tachycardia include: Fever , Anxiety ,Dehydration , Hypovolemia with hypotension and shock ,Anemia ,Hyperthyroidism , Chronic pulmonary disease ,intake of nicotine, caffeine, or illicit drugs etc. It is called tachycardia !As like our whole body works on principle of electricity like wise our heart also!You should under go some investigation for to rule out condition called SUPRA VENTRICULAR TACHYCARDIA !Where the pulse is generated and goes to whole heart musculature !There may be abnormal path way to the impulse to travel through out the heart !One should get some treatment for to reduce it otherwise on long term it may create problem !
