My hubby turned 30 and his blood pressure is now very high. Is it common to have High BP at 30? |
his blood pressure was 100/140 whn we first time monitored it but after cutting down salt intake it has stagnated at 90/135/140. He is 5-10 inches tall and weighs approx 73-75 kgs. Doesnt take alcohol , or smoke. Is an army officer so was high on physical activities earlier. But his dad has it..so could he be the target of hypertension too. We dont want to start medicines. He is having a herbal remedy and also doing a bit of yoga and long walks daily. Low salt..wld this help??? It is more common than one would think...but just because it is common doesn't mean it is normal. Low salt will definately help matters but he needs a work-up from his primary care provider or a cardiologist to determine WHY he has high bloodpressure at such a young age. Especially because he is healthy. My husband has had high bloodpressure since he was 14. He was a very active athelete in highschool but still had very high bloodpressure and no one knew why. There are conditions such as hyperaldosteronism and renal artery problems that can cause hypertension at a young age and he had a cat scan to rule them out. Also, he needed an echocardiogram (ultrasound of the heart) to make sure that he didn't have LVH (Thickening of the heart muscle due to working hard from the high bloodpressure). He probably should see a cardiologist...it doesn't mean that he *has* to start meds right now. He should find out some options and have some tests done because long term high bloodpressure is NOT good for the body. Marriage... sigh... lol NO-----that is not common @ any age!!! sounds like he needs BP Meds!!!! be careful, in this case, he probably needs Meds, nothing against yoga & long walks LOL have him take dr.shultzes cayenne an heart formula an eat 70% raw fruit an veggies an lots of water at least a gallon a day |
