Blood pressure was 150 over 90. How high is this? I was rather nervous when it was taken.? |
42 year old white male, who is overweight and a couch potato You are borderline hypertensive, if that is a true reading. A lot of people get what is called "white coat syndrome" when having blood pressure taken, being nervous, etc. can increase your heart rate, thus driving up your blood pressure. Try to relax and remain calm next time you have it tested. Should it remain high, I suggest follow up with your doctor and get the proper treatment. Being overweight and under active is not helping your situation. Good luck. 鈾?鈾?abit on the high side...ask the doc to explain... if he didnt put you on meds then dont worry too much... but get off the couch a bit more....and cut back on salty foods 鈾?鈾? This is not dangerously high but it is high enough that you need to have it checked daily for a week and then report those numbers to your doctor. If you go to your clinic every day they will check it for free for you and can give you a little card with your readings on it. If it stays high they will want to put you on medication to get it lower as this is too high. Assuming you are around 20 years old, that is a little bit high. You should google it, or look it up yourself. 150/90 is considored borderline but if you were rather nervous when it was taken it will make a difference Blood Pressure is very variable you can take it 4 times in a row and get 4 different pressures try doing some deep breathing exercises before you have it taken next time and see what the difference is my life (used to be director of health for an agency) this is considered high blood pressure if this is what is is all the time. several things can make your blood pressure go up and I dont know what was going on when you took this blood pressure so its hard to say if this is a normal reading. being over weight and a couch potato makes you a good candidate for high blood pressure. see a m.d. |
