A friend of mine has high blood pressure and a bad headache, what could be wrong? |
my friend is having a really bad headache ,and there face is burning up from high blood pressure they think.does any one know what could be happening? These are fairly generic symptoms that could be caused by many disorders (including migraines, infections, etc.) It could also be caused by the high blood pressure itself...hypertension can cause quite severe, migraine-like headaches. Your friend needs to see a doctor. Hypertension can lead to a stroke or heart attack in the short term, kidney damage in the long term. not to scare you it may be diabetes. well, if not treated it could lead to a further cardiovascular and or intracanial complication, not to mention it could deliverately damage your kidneys and pobably develope intraocular pressure and lose your peripheral vision on the long run. It's possible your friend is having a subarachnoid hemorrhage and really needs a diagnostic CT and spinal tap, but my guess is that the two are unrelated. Certainly a burning sensation in the face is not a symptom of hypertension. If this is a recurrent problem, it's probably not important. If it's new, and the headache is severe, especially if it was of abrupt onset, then the above-mentioned tests should be done without delay. Knowing the range of people posting on this site, it might also be useful to know if your friend has done this to himself; using niacin to try to skate a drug screen has become common (and a common theme on this site) and is one of the many things that can cause that combination of symptoms. |
