When Christianity eventually dies out will society's dumb people just turn to homeopathy & alt-med instead?

Jake159: No, I am saying that dumb people are more likely to be Christian. And given that they are so easily led, it's not much of a jump to realise that WHEN man-made religion eventually disappears, the alt-med "gurus" will have an easy time persuading them that water has a memory etc. I mean they believed water turned into wine, so why not?

Sorry to burst your balloon, but Christianity will never die out. And as for the intellect level comparison? Your question answers your level completely.

Religion and alternative medicine are not at odds with each other - why would anyone think that? Rest assured friend, Christianity will never die out, neither will any of the world's great religions.

Nope....more likely to come here and talk to really clever people like you....ha ha ha!

As long as everything is hunky-dory and they're all comfortably taken care of, they'll probably just do what more intelligent or authoritarian people tell them. It's up to us intelligent people to stand up against and denounce the authoritarian rabble-rousers before they cause too much trouble, so we, and the more socially oriented people, can live in a harmonious system run on fair and transparent trade and non-violence. Otherwise, if a leader can pick out some sort of nonsensical hook, the simpletons may just revolt.

The ability to know everything is reserved for the young and the closed-minded. Only when we admit our stupidity are we truly on the path to wisdom, and anyone that berates people as fools is himself a fool twice over. Once for the wasted breath to expell the vanity, and once for the arrogance it contains.

No, witch-burning will make a big comeback-Morten sounds like a witch name!!!;P

No my friend..you are societys "dumb people", the fact that you could even be bothered writing that when you know you just going to get "knocked down" and making the assumption that people who believe in something are "dumb". Also how do you put Medicine and religion together? No major religion will ever die out, unless something happens in the future to prove or disprove 1 or more of them. Have a nice day :)

This question explains everything???? You are all doom and gloom. Lighten up!

Are you trying to say that Christians are dumb people? Surly that is racist and I find offensive.
Not sure what you hope to achieve with this question apart from upsetting people.

The Christian religion is in Decline, however Christianity with Miracles is set to achieve 50% within 20 years.

if your thinking that Christianity is what is holding the moral fibers of this planet together I feel sorry for you, that and you are saying in a sense that all those that are not Christian are dumb, which is top notch arrogance no, without religion as far as I have seen from history all wars fought have been in the name of god so maybe we just might be better off without organized religion, one never knows for sure, but I have a feeling when religion is dead which for a main one like Christianity to die off I think the rest of the people on the planet will have died off as well

Religion has always been apart of human culture. You have an innate desire to worship something, in your case it seems to be yourself.

It's hard to understand unless you have a distanced objective perspective, but modern science by and large has become the new church of the age. There are a lot of things purported by it which we have complete faith in, but are objectively false.
By the same token, the scientific mindset like older religions before it has an extremely close minded viewpoint and choses to ignore ridicule or dismiss anything which runs contrary to it's own ideolgy. I'm a naturally inquisitive person, and in school I performed phenomenally in math and science since it "made sense to me," and won some academic distinction awards etc. As I got to the higher levels, I started to notice most of the people I met never figured out the concepts for themselves (whereas I did which was why I did so well), and everything they thought or knew was essentially repeating something drilled into them. It was "very very rare" to meet someone who seemed to understand the actual concept, and I began to realize most of the "scientists" I met had a religious faith in "science's truth," but lacked the ability to actually figure out anything themselves.
Now that I'm on the verge of college graduation, the implications of this fact have become very clear to me. I agree with about 2/3s of the time with the conventional scientific attitudes, but the other 1/3 of the time I've found things to be true most scientists cannot accept. Normally, when I try to explain why said concept is true, the response is the same as a religious zealot. A flat out denunciation that whenever I claim is heresy and cannot be true, along with ridicule and a refusal to logically consider or debate any diverging viewpoint.
Go tell a Christian evolution happened. They will ignore you, call you a liar, and denounce you. Mention dinosaur fossils prove they are wrong. They'll go tell you Satan just put them there to trick people and question their faith.* No matter what you say, it doesn't really matter.
Go tell a med school graduate an alternative medicine practice works. No matter what you say, they won't listen. The entire process they go through leaves them with a viewpoint which cannot accept homeopathy working. Any really good argument you raise just will get the Satan did it response. I could list hundreds of them which completely adhere to the narrow definition of proof science denotes as proof, each and every is simply ignored. Given the tone of your question, I don't really think there's any point listing them, as I might as well try to give a Christian arguements refuting god's existence.

When you get right down to it, the question really becomes what is the difference between science and religion? From my own experience, I have decided on the following definition.
a) The goal of science is to try to understand how the universe (or a component of it) works.
b) The goal of religion is to explain how the universe works (and hence abstractly hold dominion over it).
c) Each can be mistaken for, or become the other, since both are integral parts of the human mind.

Science in theory is a very good thing, but overtime it has become more and more a new religion. There are definitely decent scientists running around that are just trying to understand things, but they are in the minority.

The Daoist masters were considered (within the culture) to be the scientists of ancient China. From the western culture, they were considered to simply be "another eastern religion" since they believed in nonsense like energy existing within the body. I've practiced Daoism for a long time, and come to understand just how much work the masters put into trying to figure out what was going with this entire energy world, and then work within it. Yet, by western's science's viewpoint, energy does not exist (since we currently don't have many instruments that can detect it, as it falls outside the traditional 5 senses), therefore Daoists are crazy silly religious people.
From a more objective perspective though, can you really claim that? It's very rare for a culture or philosophy to go to the root of understanding the nature of religion, and it's my own opinion that in Western Sciences attempt to undermine the old religious order, they have become exactly what they were opposed to (since the root causes were ignored they simply manifested again).
So this brings up the central crux of your question. Will society's dumb people adopt alt med as their new religion? From my experience, it has been quite the opposite. The more intelligent aware people who don't want to believe their doctors on faith tend to try to understand health for themselves and adopt some alternative medicine practices. On the flip side, the close minded mindless followers of religion refuse to consider doing anything not prescribed by the state church and plunge themselves into financial ruin for medicine which is often useless.
To be fair, there are some hokey folklore alt med practices that are crap and should be avoided, but most of them are much better than the conventional alternative. It's always a hard pill to swallow that "what the church taught you to believe on faith" is false, but generally it's something only the wisest of society can do. Our science's definition of proof or something not working falls short a lot, and in many cases you just have to decide the matter for yourself, rather than listening to the facts spewed out by the church to support it's own position.
Let's try one case example. As the church says, "Homeopathy has 0 evidence supporting it, and is completely logically flawed and worthless" yet "homeopathy consistently gets results in cases which were lost causes, the remedy's obey an unusual but very consistent set of scientific laws, it's widely practiced to success in many other 1st world countries, and double blind scientific trials have been done to prove it's efficacy." So, does homeopathy work? When you get right down to it, the only option to decide the matter is to try it for yourself and see what happens. Our current definition of proof is just another religious ideology. The only ones who will realize that and ask the real questions are the actual scientists in each generation.

I realize to a large extent your answer was simply a trolling question to make fun of things opposed to what you believe on faith, but to accurately address it opens up a very important/interesting topic, so I thank you for that!

your a dumb@ss....idiot

society's intelligent people have already turned to homeopathy and alternative medicine, regardless of their faith, or lack thereof.
take me for example, i have been fighting cancer my entire life, gave up getting carved up ten years ago, and switched to very alternative health treatments to get better, treatments not even available in this generally backward dogmatic country run but a religious nut job.

obviously it doesn't matter to you anyway.

An excelent elaborate and balanced answer from Alex. Completely wasted on such an arrogant poorly informed troll but excelent none the less.

Well i guess you made your feeling on Christianity and Christians known.

Look at what happened in China and the USSR where christianity was / still is supressed.
People are converting in droves.
Christianity will die when the world ends.
Its been predicited many times by the leading 'scientific thinkers' that the 'supernatural' will become irrelavent and "science will win the day".

There is more talk about the supernatural than ever before inspite of increased scientific knowlegde. The world is becoming more polorised but God and Christianiy are still very much alive.

I wonder would you dare make such scathing comments about beleivers of the muslim faith?

Show a little respect and stop demeaning yourself.

You mean old troll.
Nope they won't come running here to Alt-Med. They will create another religion and be happy with their piousness.
