Do you have to believe in homeopathy for it to work?

I'm taking homeopathic medication from my hippie parents, but I don't really have faith in the results. Western medication is much more effective is it not?

No, Western Medicine is not more effective, just people have much more faith in its religion so perceive it as being effective and often don't even try better alternatives. Yes, faith does have something to do with EVERY kind of medicine and your health, but not that big a role.

Homeopathy has been practiced for just as long on animals as it has on humans, and the animals respond. Do you think they are having a faith reaction? They haven't got a clue what you are doing to them. :-)

But, like all treatments, diagnosis and remedy must match in order for it to work. Check into the remedy your parents want to give you and see if if matches your symptoms. They can be close, but not quite many times. We've used homeopathy for bed wetting, adrenal function, muscle aches, and vaccine alternative very successfully. It really does make a difference.

It can depend on the condition you are dealing with. If your parents are doing your "prescribing" they are probably not competent to do so. It's not a do-it-yourself therapy the same as Western medication. Both require trained and experience practitioners for optimum success.

Homeopathic medication is nature-based.
As most natural medication it works slower than normal medicine but it is quite powerful.

As with any illness and medication, faith plays a mayor role in healing. Do the proper research about the homeopathic medication your taking and base your faith in proper facts. It will help you to believe in it if you know what you're getting yourself into your body.

Chemical medication works pretty fast. I really suggest you follow your parents call with nature medication.
But if you're having any serious medical problem (infections and such) you should get yourself a blood culture or a hemogram and talk to a doctor about taking some chemical medication.

If your situation hasn't developed into something serious, stick to natural stuff, otherwise ask for a more powerful help.
Keep in mind that chemical drugs tend to weaken the body in the long run and make it grow dependent on them.

Hope that helps with your question.

What works, is what works for you. I find herbal medicines and homeopathic remedies work much better for my body than Western medicine. But it depends on diet, exposure to toxins, eating habits, exercise habits and much more, how sensitive you are to one medicine or another.

As for homeopathy, no, believing or not believing doesn't change how it works, it's a physiological response to an chemical introduced into the body.
