What do you understand about homeopathy?

I've studied enough, I want to know what you understand, not what I have learned.

From what I have read the basic principles are that

1. Like cures like
2. Small amounts work better than large amounts

For No 1 I have found that a teaspoon of coffee before bed time did help me get to sleep better.

Also for No 1 I have noticed that when I stop taking aspirin for backache I may get a headache.

So for my understanding homeopathy does seem to ring true on occasion but I don't know how far these principle will hold true.

I have looked up withdrawal symptoms for a lot of conventional meds and have noticed that often the withdrawal symptoms and side effects are the same as what you are trying to get rid of in the first place. It seems that conventional meds, therefore, are loosely using the No 1 above.

For No 2 I have noticed that prescription meds always seem way too strong for me but I do get relief from doses much smaller than the Doc's instructions.

In summary, I guess I believe there is something to it but can't offer much more.

Homeopathy is based on fantastic, magical ideas which go against all we know about science and about how the world works.

For homeopathy to work the following must be true:

1. Water has a memory

2. Diluting something makes it stronger

3. Like cures like (e.g. to cure cholera you should swallow human feces)

4. Shaken water is chemically different to unshaken water

If you think any or all of these things are ridiculous (as nearly all scientists, doctors, statisticians, researchers etc do), then you should reject homeopathy.

[zgamesto...: OK "I understand" that homeopathy is based on points 1 to 4 and that there is no evidence to support - or in fact there is overwhelming evidence against - points 1 to 4.

There.]

Something that You don't. Give the subject some studies first. It will be good for you and us too, so we don't have to answer some disbelieving questions.

I'm so homeopathy, I eat a hotdog starting from the middle...
