How safe is homeopathy and has it been tested?

How safe is homeopathy and has it been tested?

Homeopathy HAS been tested (clinically and scientifically.)

Clinical testing/use has demonstrated that, in the hands of a good practitioner, homeopathy can be very effective. I remain cautiously, optimistically skeptical about homeopathy, personally. (I've seen some pretty incredible cases! And I've also seen no result whatsoever.)

There are some difficulties using standard scientific testing protocols to assess homeopathy, for a variety of reasons that I wont get into here. Scientific testing, though, generally shows that homeopathy is "as effective as placebo." (Which shouldnt be negated! 30+ percent of people respond to placebo!!) Several studies to date have shown that the benefits of homeopathy are significantly more than placebo, but these tend to be conservatively reported as "more study needed."

In practice, treating with homeopathy is very seldom a "one shot deal." It tends to be a process.

Insofar as safety goes... I personally agree that some conditions are too serious to muck about and waste potentially critical time with the "process" of homeopathic treatment. In my opinion, a hallmark of any medical professional worth her salt is to know when to refer.

Aside from that... There can be some discomfort or aggravation of symptoms through the healing process, but homeopathy is 100% safe. And there are no potential drug interactions.

(Feel free to email me if you want more info, or if any of this is unclear or confusing.)

Cheers!

Homeopathic medicine isn't exactly unsafe as it is ineffective. Of course, depending upon the condition, that could be very unsafe. Homeopathic medicine is medicine which has either not been tested, or has been tested but not adopted (because it's too dangerous, ineffective, or whatever). Although some ideas in homeopathy are good (eating organic foods is definitely wise, and staying healthy is always a good idea), many are only as effective as mind over matter (think placebo). Anybody telling you they can cure some disease by reorganizing your chi is full of ****. Your best bet is to see a doctor when you get sick, and use your local health food store to maintain a healthy lifestyle.

it's as safe as drinking water and I'm afraid that it is about as effective as drinking water at curing medical problems. in fact IT IS water. it is actually JUST water.

run your tap... do it now. see what's coming out. water right? EXACTLY the same as a homeopathic remedy. It HAS been tested and been found to be totally the same as not taking it. the only different results you'll find are 1. meta-analysis. these are not trails. 2. very small pilot studies. out of every 10 small studies at least one or two will show a positive result by random chance. 3. false results made up by con artists to sell goods. these will never be backed up by any legitimate source

If you are scientifically minded then look at good sources on the internet. If you believe in magic like Raiki and Reflexology then you could argue that you deserve what you get. but PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE don't use it on your children.. if they are sick they need a medical doctor not a witch doctor.

I copied this from a dictionary for you.
homeopathy /%h@UmI"Qp@Ti, hQm-/ (also homoeopathy)
路 n. a system of complementary medicine in which disease is treated by minute doses of natural substances that in a healthy person would produce symptoms of disease. Often contrasted with allopathy.
鈥?DERIVATIVES homeopathic adj. homeopathically adv. homeopathist n.
鈥?ORIGIN C19: coined in Ger. from Gk homoios 鈥榣ike鈥?+ patheia (see -pathy)
I have never heard of anybody dying from homeopathic cures. It has nothing to do with Reiki, Refelexology, Acupressure.or Acupuncture . except for being an alternative treatment for illness.
I have never used homeopathy although I do use alternative meds (Herbs, etc.) and an Asian form of massage on myself.

Homeopathy has been tested many times, and is completely harmless (except if it keeps you from seeing a real doctor). It only has an effect on dehydration..
