What is the difference between "hypnosis" and "brainwashing "someone in your opinion?

isnt the whole point have having your own mind the ability to use it??

why do you need someone else to point out something which is true or not true??

why and how so in your opinion??

Hypnosis is consentral, it is a therapeutic therapy that is specifically requested. Without consent it is unusable.

Brainwashing is a continuous act towards someone, which sets beliefs within the subconscious mind, such as parents actions/words with children etc.

hypnosis isn't a process of trying to destroy someones character and personality into a 'yes - no' response. It's a completely different thing. Brainwashing is more of a conditioning process and involves a great deal of manipulation. It usually starts with rational questioning and then developes from there.. i.e Do you think america is a good country? (yes)... but America killed little children in Iraq didn't it? (yes) So you think killing little children in Iraq is a good thing? (ehmmm...no) So if you think it's not a good thing, then you obviously think that America isn't a good country? (ehmmmm.. dunno anymore).... etc etc.... (that's a crude example..but hey. I'm not an expert). Add to that, isolation and the constant threat of violence..you'd be surprise just how quickly you'd adopt someone elses point of view.

I think hypnosis deals more with various levels of awareness where in comparison brainwashing is the process of repeating a way of being, thinking, acting and then providing positive/negative reinforcement through action. These reinforcers are used to bring the "victim" to conclusions previously not considered in a way that SEEMS sensible and natural, but are most probably not.

Hypnosis is a clinical process of inducing a state of deep relaxation, and in some cases, heightened compliance and suggestibility.

Brainwashing is the psychological process of implanting a set of counter-inutative ideas and values by repetition and suppression of ego.

Hypnosis is usually voluntary
Brainwashing is not.

However, if you are hypnotised without knowing you could be brainwashed into doing something you would not normally do.

It is said that you have to want to be hypnotised. I do not understand enough of this to comment.

Hypnosis isn't about feeding someone information while they're under, that's brainwashing. It is about accessing the subconscious, I don't know what you don't get it.
