How dangerous is a hysterectomy?

How dangerous is a hysterectomy?

Well, it depends how you define "danger". The surgery itself isn't a problem--they do it all the time, and complications are minimal from the procedure itself. However, there are many potential problems that can occur due to hysterectomy. It can affect sexual pleasure; it can affect your pelvic floor muscles. Recovery will take about a year, and you can expect to be tired for 6 months or so. If you're getting your ovaries removed too, you can expect a lot more problems. If you don't take replacement hormones, you can have problems when you get older--your risks of dementia, osteoporosis, and heart problems is increased. Only get removed what you need to be removed. Don't get other organs removed if not necessary. They're all there for a reason.

It's just as dangerous as any other surgery with risks involved.
I just had a Myomectomy due to fibroids and heavy bleeding, it was done in August and everything worked out fine. You'll be okay, just do it and don't wait too long to get it done like I did.
