Question about HRT. I had a partial hysterectomy about 4 years ago.?

Both of my ovaries were left. I am 41 years old and I have endometriosis and I keep having recurring cysts on my ovaries. My gyn is wanting to remove both of my ovaries because of the cysts. I am concerned about taking HRT. I have all these ideas in my head that I will be really emotional, gain weight, etc.... Any insight from others that have been through this would be very helpful. Thanks.

Google the good & bad affects of HRT & the good & bad of leaving the overies & dealing with cysts, It could affect your moods & have side affects. and then some women do very well on HRT. Make sure to get a second medical oppionion.
before you do anything..
not much help here, this will be a personal choice but I would check out the pro & cons of going both ways.
Good luck I hope what ever you decide it is best for you:>)

Removing your ovaries will literally put you into menopause. Your ideas of mood swings and weight gain are basically right on. The HRT replaces the hormones that you will no longer be producing yourself to regulate your female body. It is a personal choice. There are side effects with HRT and some have been linked to increase risks of certain cancers, but there are also increased risks of certain cancers without it. It really sucks to be a woman if you think about the hormonal issues and cancer risks throughout your life.

Your best bet is to fully educate yourself and make and educated decision on what you think is best for you. You can google: HRT pros and cons. This would be a good start for you.

My mother was put on HRT when she was perimenopausal. She then developed breast cancer. You'll never know for sure if that caused it or not. (she was 51 at the time of dx) Now, 10 years later, and done with menopause she has decided against taking the HRT. She has gained weight and grew hair in weird places and deals with the hot flashes. But every one is different and every one has different factors in their lives that make them the way they are.
