Hysterectomy at 16? |
Here's my story as to why I want a hysterectomy at 16. I don't plan on ever having children. If I wanted a child I would adopt. It's the greatest gift you could ever give a child. Also I've been having some side effects to the Sprintec (hormone therapy pills) and have been growing more depressed and insomnia has hit me again.. boo.. absolutely not, unless advised by your doctor. It's completely valid medically. However, at age 16, you don't know for sure that you won't want children someday. You would hate to make a decision that could haunt you forever. Make sure you weigh everything out for a long time before you make a decision. It sounds as though you have. If the pain is too bad, a doctor will give you no choice about it. You are in a tough spot, but if you don't want kids, the choice is clear. unfortunaly you basically need and act of congress in order to get a hysterectomy. I can't see unless it was a life or death situation that any doctor would perform a hysterectomy on a 16 yr old. When I was your age I too did not want children.. I wouldn't even babysit.. I am now 42 and have 4 girls ( 1 adopted). Your views may change as you get older. Welcome to my world! |
