Hysterectomy at 16?

Here's my story as to why I want a hysterectomy at 16. I don't plan on ever having children. If I wanted a child I would adopt. It's the greatest gift you could ever give a child.

I have been put on 'hormone therapy' basically low dose birth control to help with my heavy periods. My periods have gotten progressively worse in the last year or 2. Being in high school attendance is important and if I'm missing 4-5 days of school every month that's absolutely not good. I plan to continue on to a 4 year college and they're definitely not going to tolerate my absences.

With my periods I get heavy bleeding, bad pain by my uterus and and dull achy pain all over my lower abdomen, bad diarrhea, headaches, and NASTY cramps to the point I'm curled into the fetal position. I do take Naproxen for cramps and it helps but I've heard there are risks for taking it for so long and I don't want to be on these pills that I have to take every day :(

Basically is this a valid medical reason for surgery?

Also I've been having some side effects to the Sprintec (hormone therapy pills) and have been growing more depressed and insomnia has hit me again.. boo..

absolutely not, unless advised by your doctor.

youre 16 years old. please do not take offense by this, but you are too young to make a choice to not have children. at 16 the thought of having kids in my future freaked me out, i didnt want them. that idea never changed until i met my husband. now we have 2 beautiful little girls that i cant imagine my life without them.

It's completely valid medically. However, at age 16, you don't know for sure that you won't want children someday. You would hate to make a decision that could haunt you forever. Make sure you weigh everything out for a long time before you make a decision. It sounds as though you have. If the pain is too bad, a doctor will give you no choice about it. You are in a tough spot, but if you don't want kids, the choice is clear.

unfortunaly you basically need and act of congress in order to get a hysterectomy.
And with as young as you are you would sersioly need something wrong with you in order to get one.

A few options that you could do are
~go to an ob/gyn
~ Try a new birth control like seasonale I take it and I get 4 periods a year and I have similar issues.
~depo but i highly this as a last resort no periods but very high risks.

I can't see unless it was a life or death situation that any doctor would perform a hysterectomy on a 16 yr old. When I was your age I too did not want children.. I wouldn't even babysit.. I am now 42 and have 4 girls ( 1 adopted). Your views may change as you get older.

Welcome to my world!

I have periods so bad that i wear an Super Plus tampon and an overnight pad sometimes..

I still dont miss work due to it.

there are pills that will stop your periods all together...I think i would consider that
