How long does it take to get back to work after a hysterectomy, orthscopicly?

i have about a week of paid time off then i will have to go without anything. my dr says i have endometriosis and need to have surgery. i sit at work and answer phones and type all day, nothing strenuous.

I am assuming you mean LAPAROSCOPIC Hysterectomy (not Orthoscopic...Orthoscopic is for Orthopedic surgeries).

In any event, I was going to take off two weeks, but the Insurance Co. (Short term disability..see if your company offers this) gave me four weeks. At 3 weeks, I was not ready due to some complications. I was out for six weeks!!

I did not have a recurrence of Endometriosis (had the Endo excised...cut out, 9 1/2 years prior without recurrence), but had it done for Adenomyosis, which is Endometriosis within the muscle of the uterus...not the same thing as what you are speaking of. You have to remember, just because you have tiny incisions, they are still doing the same amount of work inside, so you need to be careful. I would NOT recommend going back after a week!

I hope this helps!!

Good luck!

At least a month. You are going to be tired easily. Your stamina will not be so great. If you go back too early, you will not be able to lay down and rest if you need. So stay home and rest.

I was off six weeks but I lift freight at work that is heavy I would suggest two weeks for you because of the soreness so what about sick days do they provide you with those

If its a hysterecomy probably at least 1 month.

depends if you have it abdominally or vaginally....few weeks with the first and 3 days with the latter
