Anybody have a partial hysterectomy at an early age? Early menopause?

I had a partial hystorectomy at 24 because of cervical cancer, but still have my ovaries.

I will be 40 in a couple of months and am experiencing:

Night Sweats
My face starts feeling really hot and then it goes away
Feel kind of 'out of it' at times.. spacey
Short-tempered these days.

I've heard that women that have a partial hystorectomy experience menopause quite a bit earlier, but THIS much earlier?

Does this sound like the begining of menopause?

Thanks!

The loss of uterine function can cause the ovaries to stop working quicker than they would have, had the person still been experiencing menstrual cycles. Also, many women can start experiencing a phase called "perimenopause" starting around age 40, until they experience their last menstrual period usually in their early 50's. Perimenopause is a slowdown in hormone production by the female body, which can cause many menopausal symptoms such as night sweats, hot flashes, mood swings, loss of memory, vaginal dryness.

Just because you don't have a uterus anymore doesn't mean you can't or won't go through the symptoms of menopause. If you're concerned, it's probably time to bring a list of questions to your gynecologist, and also check out the Hyster Sisters website.
